Reclaim Your Health: My Journey to Healing and Empowering Others
I’ve always had a passion for health and wellness, but my journey didn’t begin in the way you might expect. Growing up on the standard American diet—processed food, sugary cereals, white bread, prepackaged snacks, and fast food—I struggled with my health from a young age.
In high school, I desperately wanted to be healthier. I dreamed of running, being active, and feeling good in my body, but I faced a harsh reality at home. My family was not supportive and often discouraged me from succeeding, not wanting me to break away or achieve more than they had.
By age 17, I already had two autoimmune conditions—PCOS and vitiligo—as well as chronic constipation caused by my diet and the stress of childhood trauma. I believed I couldn’t succeed. With no support system, I felt trapped in unhealthy habits and low self-worth.
Despite the odds, I became the first—and only—person in the family I grew up in to graduate high school, and I did it with honors. Immediately after graduating, at 17, I got married and moved across the globe. That change sparked a personal mission: to take control of my health and prove to myself that I could succeed.
Within a few years, I lost the weight, started running, and even completed the Aloha Run in Hawaii—a grueling 8.15 miles. But working as a program director for a nationally recognized weight-loss company showed me a troubling truth: clients kept returning, heavier than before. Even while “doing everything right,” my own body fat percentage was 46% at just 129 pounds. I wasn’t healthy—I was depleted.
That realization changed everything.
I left that company and entered the fitness world, hoping a better approach to nutrition would finally help people succeed. While there were improvements, it still wasn’t sustainable. I saw the same cycle over and over—weight loss, regain, frustration, shame. After nearly a decade in the industry, I stepped away, became a mother, and shifted into administrative roles in therapy and banking.
But the real turning point came in 2012.
The Crisis That Changed Everything
By then, I was remarried with three children, including a special-needs son. Our entire family was struggling with chronic health conditions.
Hypothyroidism
Digestive issues
Anxiety
Sleep apnea
High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Prediabetes
But my son’s condition was the most severe.
He was rapidly losing weight despite eating 5,000 calories per day. At 5’10”, he weighed just 108 pounds. His diagnosis—eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE)—came with a bleak prognosis. Doctors recommended feeding tubes, steroids, and long-term medications.
I refused to accept that as his only future.
Desperate and determined, I dove into research. I went back to school and earned two degrees, including one in holistic nutrition, along with multiple advanced certifications in gut health, autoimmune conditions, metabolic wellness, and integrative health.
We transitioned to a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet — and the results changed our lives.
Within the first year, my son’s condition improved dramatically. By year two, his autoimmune disease was in full remission. Today, he is a thriving 6′, 200-pound young man who can eat foods that once caused him severe reactions.
And it wasn’t just him.
Food is medicine.
My Credentials & Professional Background
This journey reignited my calling. I became a Holistic Nutritionist, Integrative Health Coach, and Personal Trainer with now over 20 years in health and wellness. I hold 12 advanced certifications in:
But more than credentials, I bring lived experience:
This isn’t just my profession — it’s my purpose, my mission, and my life’s work.
My Current Journey
There is one more chapter of my story — one I didn’t fully understand until adulthood: my experience with lipedema.
Now, recognizing the symptoms I had as a child, I understand that lipedema has been with me most of my life. For years, I blamed myself—thinking I wasn’t disciplined enough or wasn’t trying hard enough.
Receiving the diagnosis was both heartbreaking and liberating. It explained decades of frustration, the disproportionate weight, the pain, and why traditional dieting never changed my arms or lower body.
I now understand my body more deeply, and I’ve learned how to nourish it in a way that reduces pain, slows progression, and supports my lymphatic system. And I feel called to help other women who are suffering in silence, confused, or misdiagnosed—as so many of us are.
You are not broken.
You are not lazy.
Your body is not the enemy.
Together, we can create a path toward healing, hope, and a better quality of life — no matter where you’re starting.
